  Waste Reduction and Environmental Compliance
The Tech Waste Reduction and Environmental Compliance (WREC) program is administered by the Safety, Health, & Environmental Technology Division of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). WREC is a voluntary, nonregulatory, environmental compliance program that provides technical assistance with environmental compliance and management to Georgia industries. The WREC website includes information on regional seminars & presentations, continuing education and certification programs; how to request technical assistance from WREC; publications of technical tip sheets and resource guides; and links to other websites with information about environmental compliance.

The mission of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Technology Division is to protect the environment and human health and safety and to encourage sustainable development through an integrated, multidisciplinary program that combines: technical assistance, outreach, technology transfer, and research and development.   Hazardous Substance Research Centers
The Hazardous Substance Research Centers (HSRC) is a national organization that carries out an active program of basic and applied research, technology transfer, and training. Activities are conducted regionally by five multi-university centers, which focus on different aspects of hazardous substance management. These centers bring together researchers from a variety of disciplines to collaborate on integrated research projects, which involve practical problems of hazardous substance management as well as long-term, exploratory research. HSRC's website includes links to regional centers, information on ongoing research and researchers, publications, outreach programs, and links to other environmental resources.

  Technical Outreach Services to Communities
Technical Outreach Services to Communities (TOSC) is a no-cost, non-advocate technical assistance program supported by the Hazardous Substance Research Centers (HSRCs). TOSC uses the resources of researchers and professionals in environmental science and engineering from more than 30 major research universities to provide communities affected by hazardous substance contamination with the independent technical information they need to participate actively in solving environmental problems.   Technical Assistance to Brownfields Communities
The Technical Assistance to Brownfields Communities (TAB) program has been established as part of EPA's Brownfields Initiative to help communities clean and redevelop properties that have been damaged or undervalued by environmental contamination. The purpose of these efforts is to create better jobs, increase the local tax base, improve neighborhood environments, and enhance the overall quality of life.   Sustainable Facilities and Infrastructure
The Sustainable Facilities and Infrastructure (SFI) Initiative at Georgia Tech Research Institute is an interdisciplinary research program focused on the goal of increasing the sustainability of built facilities and infrastructure around the globe.   Initiative for Community Outreach, Research, and Education
Initiative for Community Outreach, Research, and Education (ICORE) seeks to build a community-integrated research and development program focused on addressing the needs of neighborhoods in the metropolitan Atlanta area and throughout the State of Georgia. A central focus of this program is the restoration of environmentally impaired properties within an overall context of economic redevelopment of a community. ICORE attempts to link distinct areas of expertise into a unique, holistic program that facilitates the transfer of university-based technologies to communities through intense involvement with individual community members and groups. On the website, you will find slide presentations; descriptions of the program's outreach, research, and education activities; and contact information for researchers involved with the program.

  Institute for Sustainable Technology and Development
Website of the Institute for Sustainable Technology and Development (ISTD) at Georgia Tech. ISTD focuses on creating mechanisms for capacity-building and coordination among existing and emerging programs involving faculty, staff and students who maintain their institutional affiliations. The Institute for Sustainable Technology and Development serves as the Georgia Tech advocate on sustainability, facilitating development and implementation of a comprehensive agenda for enhancing the curriculum, research programs, and campus management. The ISTD is an alliance of research and educational centers addressing specific issues relevant to creating a more prosperous and sustainable society. The website contains a comprehensive overview of the program, downloadable presentations given by ISTD, and links to other sustainability resources.
